/u/Throwawayconcern2023 All those ants rollin about in the Durst.
Edit: keep on rollin baby |
/u/lilangelkm You're cut off my friend. Cut off. |
/u/GloomyLingonberry509 Wait, don't let that guy leave yet, he tried to pay with
a Three Dollar Bill, Y'all |
/u/mayeam912 This shit really works. Every spring we have an ant
issue, until last year when I found this and got them. |
/u/Admirable-Many6054 Legit thought we were looking at a den of termites at
first |
/u/Sophisticated-Tiger What's up with those like empty spaces people quickly
dart across or then when one stands on the middle the
entirety of the circle all swiftly close on them...?
Also totally my thoughts as well....we are as ants
scurrying upon the face of this earth.....and the Great
Universe? We are as micro-organisms to its
immensity....but yeah. Ants.
TLDR : Totally like ants bro |
/u/MostBoringStan It's all mosh pit stuff. The open spaces are for the
more rowdy people who want to move around and slam into
each other. The more crowded areas are for people who
want to have fun jumping with the music and maybe a bit
of friendly shoving, but they don't want to get slammed
into. |
/u/PandaPocketFire This is interesting, is it like an unwritten rule code
kinda thing? |
/u/DAS_BEE Pretty much. People who want to mosh naturally find
those places, the people who don't stay away and you get
those kinds of patterns in crowds |
/u/bigfloppydonkeydng Thinking about all the mosh pits in the late 90s makes
me feel old. Mosh pits don't really exist like they used
to, from what I've seen. |
/u/darkroomdaze They exist plenty, you must not be at the right shows
\m/ |
/u/timelyparadox Yea, I tried starting one in Tailor Swift concert but it
ended swiftly |
/u/ol_shifty 🤣🤣🤣 talking about bad blood over here |
/u/PandaPocketFire The modest mouse concert was just not having it when i
tried. |
/u/crakemonk You haven't lived until you've moshed at a Bright Eyes
show. |
/u/bigfloppydonkeydng That's highly possible, and probably true. |
/u/isthisataxwriteoff Yes , you basically go into the middle if you want
violence and friends that don't want violence stay on
the outside as barrier to the people outside the mayhem.
But this is another level of mosh pit, I believe they
call it wall of death when everyone runs into each other
and I can see 3 walls colliding at the drop. This shit
is insane hahaha |
/u/Sophisticated-Tiger So those people really do crush the poor dude in the
middle? Lol explains why the others darted across so
quick! He had balls to stand there and offer himself up
to the gods of the mosh! Might have regretted it after
though lol.
Hope bro sees that footage of himself and can point
himself out that would be cool. |
/u/herzkolt So those people really do crush the poor dude in the
middle?
Kind of, but if you let yourself go you just get shoved
and thrown around, its "violent" but not too painful.
It's like floating on a bubbly liquid. People generally
don't let you fall, but if you do fall they will
immediately pick you back up and check you're alright. |
/u/Sophisticated-Tiger Ah ok mate. You've done this yourself? Sounds wild man.
Not my sort of music or scene tbh but I love that people
do this sort of thing.
There is potential for things to go wrong tho? Fights
break out or.....unintentional injuries? Or is sort of
understanding that if you are part of it you accept the
risks and there's no real malice from anyone involved? |
/u/MostBoringStan I have done it when I was younger. Nobody (for the most
part) is actually trying to hurt anybody, so injuries
are rare. It's very physical though, so shit can happen.
If somebody does get hurt, everyone will recognize that
and stop or make a shield around them so that person can
get to safety.
Fights are rare because there is no malice, it's just
blowing off steam for fun. However, assholes do exist
who try to use the situation to bully or hurt people.
Depending on the crowd, it can go very poorly for that
bully because people generally don't want to see that. |
/u/Sophisticated-Tiger Wow. And yeah sadly bullies and assholes and dickheads
pervade everything, but, generally speaking, are a
minority so atleast theres that.
Ever miss it? Never feel like diving back in one of
those pits for old times sake? Back once more into the
breach we go my dear fellows etc etc lol or you've hung
up your mosh hat for good? |
/u/crakemonk There has only been one time I've seen someone get
brutally injured in a pit at a hardcore show, broken
nose, but he definitely had it coming and probably
shouldn't have gotten into the pit with the people he
did. He was so disliked that no one else came to his
aid. Otherwise, it's very much a looking out for each
other type of unwritten rule.
- signed a female who would stand in the interior wall
of a pit back in the day (oh to be young again), and no
one touched me because either I'd punch them, or they'd
have to face the multiple 6'4" dudes moshing who
wouldn't have been happy.
Also, fuck the dude who attempted to start a pit
directly in front of me at a show while Hit the Lights
played. Wrong place and the wrong time and he kicked me
one too many times, so he definitely got a few warning
kicks in return from me. He finally got the hint.
I'm way too old for this shit now. I only go to shows
with seats because autoimmune arthritis is a bitch. |
/u/Bigchunky_Boy Yes there are a few ( unwritten rules in the mosh pit ) |
/u/Pork_Confidence I'm in my 40s and Limp Bizkit became popular when I was
a kid.
Is this a crowd of 40 y/o with bad knees doing this?!?! |
/u/A_Neurotic_Pigeon Older, even. At the music festival I saw them at there
were like 60 y/o dudes getting in the pit.
Alcohol will make you forget all sorts of aches and
pains. If you're still feeling the pain? Apply more
alcohol, courtesy of the event starting at $12 for a
plastic cup of beer 🍻 |
/u/Pork_Confidence Far too risky.. I'll stick to huffing glue in a
sun-baked port-a-john thank you very much! |
/u/mediumcheese01 The mark of a mature and distinguished gentleman. |
/u/Forward-Surprise1192 There was one old dude like almost 7 feet tall everyone
kept avoiding at my last concert, but I could tell he
wanted to do the mosh pit too. I'm like 5'9 so anytime
I'd see him I'd rush him lol or you know the way I mean
hopefully haha. I felt bad people were scared but idgaf
and tried to help him be involved |
/u/Kevlar_Bunny You're probably a guy but I'm just imagining a tiny
woman screaming while Naruto running at him. YOU WILL
EXPERIENCE JOY WITH ME!! 😡 |
/u/A_Neurotic_Pigeon Every pit needs someone like you bro 🤘 |
/u/Forward-Surprise1192 I try haha. All the other people kind of avoided him so
he was just awkwardly jumping around but when I'd pass
him I'd have to like almost jump into him to move him
even a little. He did push me back pretty hard lmao |
/u/GfrzD As a small guy rushing the bigger dudes is always so
funny. Full charge them to do basically nothing, they
push back and i go flying. |
/u/antwan_benjamin Yeah I saw this guy in a wheelchair. He really wanted to
be involved so I tipped it over. |
/u/only_remaining_name Where do you get $12 beers at a concert anymore? |
/u/A_Neurotic_Pigeon Louder Than Life rock festival, $12 Beers/IPAs and $14
for liqour. Think like half a (very thin and shitty)
solo cup worth. |
/u/beardlessdestroyer69 I had this recently with my dad and uncle, the gig was
amazing. Jumping around like kids. Next
morning........they wanted to die. |
/u/EntForgotHisPassword So I'm only in my mid 30's, but recently went to a
proper headbanging and moshpitting metal gig. I thought
I had done damage to my neck the next couple of days,
never in my life had I felt so sore in my neck! |
/u/RawrRRitchie NAH the older people know better. They're sneaking in
flasks |
/u/ZombieJoesBasement Damn, I'm sure their medic tent was PACKED. |
/u/netslaveone Over here, we don't get to see many international bands
and artists at their pick. So when they decide to come,
nostalgia is stronger than pain. I've been to a lot of
concerts now in my 50s, jumping like a teenager but I am
happy to say that half the crowd are young people who
are fans. |
/u/Pork_Confidence Ok that legit cool. I appreciate you sharing! |
/u/Islanduniverse I'm a teacher, and the kids are down for them again. So
it's 40 year olds and 17-20 year olds (I teach mostly
college freshman). |
/u/Hellsovs I'm 25, and Limp Bizkit was by far the best party at
Rock for People festival in the Czech Republic last
week. |
/u/justhereformemes8 Ibuprofen is about to be wiped clean off the shelves
within a 30 square mile radius of that venue for the
foreseeable future 🤣 |
/u/Pork_Confidence Fucking hell... I have an MRI for my knee in 3 weeks and
will I did was squat while working in the
garden...😮💨 |
/u/GloomyLingonberry509 I threw my knee out doing this dance at a dog last week.
https://giphy.com/gifs/l41YiLaqBQDBuyFCU |
/u/Forward-Surprise1192 If you go to a mosh pit at a concert it will go away |
/u/abstractraj I'm 55 and I still go. The moshing worries me though.
I'm brittle now |
/u/brotried2blockme No there are literally a lot of young people at these
kinds of concerts. I saw older groups like Dinosaur Jr
and The Jesus and Mary Chain recently and most of the
large crowd was literally 20s. |
/u/PineappleFit317 Late 90s/early 00s Nümetal is experiencing a resurgence
in popularity among people who weren't even born yet in
its heyday. |
/u/Zestyoliveflakes I'm 41 and went to an underground punk show in San
Francisco last week.... I'm still self medicating |
/u/itchfix What are you doing having bad knees at 40? Do some
stretches or something jeez |
/u/In_The_News God gives us a finite number of pain-free knee bends in
a lifetime. I used the vast majority of my quota in
clubs from 2003-2009. Wearing shitty shoes. |
/u/torx822 Funny cause all the circles are going counter clockwise.
I just learned somewhere that is important for some
reason. |
/u/igotagoodfeeling Humans just naturally veer left, I saw a post about it
recently too. Weird stuf |
/u/Low-Persimmon4870 Really?! I'd feel more natural veering right tbh |
/u/upupandawaydown Most right handed skaters turn left naturally, hence
most skating rinks go counterclockwise. |
/u/zer0w0rries most of us are right leg dominant, therefore putting
more force on our right leg when walking, which causes
us to veer left since the left leg is being over
powered. this is why people lost in the woods or the
desert end up walking in circles |
/u/whizzwr I'm betting this is related to Left Hand Traffic vs
Right Hand traffic.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left-_and_right-hand_traf
fic |
/u/Low-Persimmon4870 Ahh interesting!! :] thanks for this! |
/u/thereforeratio I'd imagine it is preferable to veer/turn left because
it keeps your dominant hand more available |
/u/Son_of_the_Spear This is actually a thing that has been noted and talked
about since classical antiquity - the Macedonians and
Hellenes talk about how the phalanx would always seem to
gradually veer left, and how they would have to put
experienced men on the edges to prevent this. Some
modern people thought that it was due to how the shields
were placed, but there are doubts about this now.
In other places, it was noted that men lost in the
desert would end up circling back to where they came
from even when they thought they were walking in a
straight line. |
/u/QueenOfDarknes5 Most people are right handed and have a stronger right
leg. Maybe footsteps with the right leg are slightly
larger because the weaker left leg is bending more and
this results into a slight curve?
My guess. |
/u/ultimatefreeboy Reality leans to the left too. |
/u/BeratnasGILF420 Northern hemisphere circle pits run counter-clockwise,
while southern hemisphere circle pits run clockwise. |
/u/torx822 I'm gonna have to make a collect call to Australia to
verify this... |
/u/BeratnasGILF420 "It was an emergency call from the Circle-pit commission
in Springfield" |
/u/torx822 I'm gonna report this to me member of parliament... |

/u/Exciting_Classic277 In Australia the water doesn't swirl. It just goes down
under. |
/u/bigsharsk We call 'em Chuzzwozzas |
/u/Bozlogic I have no reason not to believe you |
/u/Old_Brick3014 I read this fact just the other day too. Now I can't
